Pure Motion Dance Company offers a range of dynamic programs catering to diverse age groups and interests.
For aspiring dancers aged 5 and above, the Competition Team provides a platform to boost self-assurance and skills. Through auditions, they join a welcoming competitive program that fosters improvement in various dance styles. The team environment enhances character development within the PMDC community. The STEP-UP Program, designed for students in grades 5-12, is an exceptional in-studio educational initiative. It cultivates a passion for dance and teaching through hands-on training, mentorship, research-based activities, and self-analysis assignments, nurturing future dance educators. The Change in Motion program, open to dancers from age 4 onwards, empowers young leaders within PMDC. By participating in book studies, research projects, volunteer endeavors, and seminars, dancers learn about community impact and develop into positive role models for the future.
For lively celebrations, PMDC hosts themed birthday parties for all, complete with fun dance classes and hassle-free arrangements.
Summer Camps offer energetic Hip Hop and Acro sessions for kids aged 2 and above, teaching fundamental moves to vibrant music.
Tiny Dancers and Kidlets aged 6 and up can engage in the captivating Dance Cirque Program, exploring the artistry of aerial silks. These specialized fabric routines enhance expression, strength, and flexibility, bringing a unique dimension to dance.
Finally, the Year End Showcase in June lets all students, regardless of age, demonstrate their progress and talents in a non-competitive, lively atmosphere at the Jubilee Auditorium. Pick a program that suits your child’s age and interests!
5+ Year Olds
Competition builds confidence and self-esteem. Children looking to accelerate their dance training are invited to a special audition opportunity to join PMDC’s Competition Team. Our friendly and fun competitive program provides additional motivation to continually improve their skills, and the team environment provides additional opportunities for character-building within our PMDC “Dance Family”.
As a member of our Team, choreographers help our experienced dancers between five and 17 years old gain greater proficiency in a variety of dance disciplines in solo, duet, trio, and group routines.
Each season, PMDC travels to three competitions in Alberta and surrounding areas to showcase their abilities.
School Grades 5-12
PMDC’s Student Teacher Education Program (STEP Team) is a highly distinguished in-studio education program that promotes the love of dance and instructional methods to our students. The Team is guided through the dance education process using in-class training, hands-on practice, instructor mentoring, research-based activities, self-analysis assignments and more.
This program provides the necessary STEPping stones for building confident, hardworking, well-informed, and eager dance educators for the future.
Ages 4+
PMDC's signature youth leadership program, Change in Motion, is open to all current PMDC dancers. This structured leadership program is designed to mentor and foster the ideas and growth of youth change-makers in our community.
Our dancers are involved in book studies, research projects, volunteer trips, and seminars to learn about the impact every individual can make on our community. Our philosophy on community engagement is that we will never simply cut a cheque to a non-profit and pat ourselves on the back for a job well done. We want our dancers to get their hands dirty and witness the power they have to be positive role models..
Our kids help other kids in our community – and we know that’s a pretty powerful message to send to the leaders of tomorrow.

Nothing says “party” like a dance class decked out for your little boy or girl on their special day! For parents, nothing says “easy” like having PMDC handle all the details and cleanup.
We’ve thrown parties with almost any theme you can imagine and are open to any new ideas your child may have in mind! Themes we’ve done in the past include: Frozen, Princess, Beach, Hip Hop Dance Party, Pokemon, Star Wars, Paw Patrol, Sparkle Unicorn, and more.
You don’t need to be a registered dancer with PMDC to book a party with us.
2+ Year Olds
Have a little one who loves bouncing around? If so, join our fun-filled multi-day Hip Hop or Acro camps!
Dancers will learn basic moves and skills while dancing to upbeat music.
Tiny Dancers, Kidlets, 6+ Year Olds
Aerial silks is a new and exciting extension to the dance arts community where dancers perform acrobatics while suspended from the ceiling in specialized long silk fabric. Dancers use silks to wrap, suspend, twist, swing, and spiral bodies into various positions.
Silks allows dancers to gain a deeper understanding of artistic expression, strength, flexibility, and beautiful extensions. Classes are available in sessions throughout the dance season.

The Showcase is an annual recital held in June at the Jubilee Auditorium. It gives students the opportunity to showcase their talent and the progress they’ve made throughout the year.
All students will participate in this event, which is a fun, non-competitive, and exciting learning experience. Students show family members what they’ve learned and wear costumes that complement their performance. Parents and guests can purchase tickets for the event in May.
